Since there is a map on the front cover, put a small star on the map in the location of the village being studied. 2. Coordinate the $2.80/gal fuel price quoted in the Executive Summary with the $1.10 to $1.75/gal presented in the body of the report. 3. Delete the Average Outage Rate from the numbers presented at the bottom of page I of the Executive Summary. 4. On final reports the photos should be in color. To avoid astronomical reproduction costs the photos should be ona limited number of pages with photos only rather than scattered within the text. 5. Unless Kivalina is trying to dispose of its water source the last sentence in the first paragraph on page 3 should read something like: ‘Problems with disposing of the sewage and developing a water source have kept the village from expanding the water distribution.’ 6. Clarify how many remote radiators are existing and how many new remote radiators are to be provided. Pages 5, 7, 9, 26, & 51 conflict in indicating whether there are one or two existing remote radiators and whether one or two new remote radiators are to be installed. 7. Correct the reference to figures V-3A & V-3B on page 25. 8. Reconfigure the connecting piping between the Butler building and the module on page 26. The current configuration puts the primary heat exchanger in parallel with the module radiators. 9. Correct the water treatment building connection schematic on page 31 to indicate the new heat exchanger connecting to the boiler return line rather than the supply line. 10. The 0.2 on the last line of the third paragraph on page 32 should either be followed by a percent (%) sign or it should be changed to 0.002 to make the calculation correct. 11. Delete the bottom half of Table IX-A on page 53. It currently makes it look as if the heat lost from the distribution piping is being counted as used rather than lost. 12. Coordinate the method of numbering the fuel in the figures on page 54 by adding the zeros to Figure IX-1 and deleting the word "Thousands." Also correct the spelling of "Equivalent." 13. Add the word "heat" between "waste" and "off" in the first line of the Project Summary on page 55. polarconsult alaska,.i1 1503 West 33rd Avenue e Suite 310 ANCHORAGE, ALASKA 99503 (907) 258-2420 FAX (907) 258-2419 AEA TO WE ARE SENDING YOU [J Attached C) Shop drawings U Prints ‘} Copy of letter {_] Under separate cover via {J Change order LETTE OF TRANSMITTAL OATE 4-6-GO ATTENTION |_ toh Gel koul Se EE ELE | Guisage > | le sts Nec? “TT the following items: C} Plans Xx O Samples CI Specifications copies | DATE NO DESCRIPTION / Dra t¢- / | Dra Final Keporf- hoyuk 3 | Report Kivelina THESE ARE TRANSMITTED as checked below: (J For approval (J For your use (3 As requested X For review and comment [1] {] Approved as submitted O Resubmit copies for approval OC Approved as noted O Submit copies for distribution © Returned for corrections 0 Return corrected prints (1 FOR BIDS DUE REMARKS 19 (0 PRINTS RETURNED AFTER LOAN TO US — Ail additoral reports will follar the aprwed Koyuk format. Waste Heat 9 Villages Atm: Mr. Gary Smith Project Manager Dear Mr. Smith: This proposal is made in response the scope of work you provided us for doing Concept Level Designs on nine western Alaska AVEC villages. This proposal contains a Lotus spread sheet which shows the work items and their associated fees and expenses. Included is a proposed fee for HMS's estimating work. This proposal is based on supplying a concept level design in accordance with the work items as listed in the general work tasks and the individual designs. Travel is based on a site trip to each village by local carrier then by charter back to a central location, which will be Kotzebue, Nome or Bethel in the afternoon. If this charter can be avoided, the local mail carrier will be used. As you can see by the enclosed sheets from Quality Travel this may be possible in some situations. We will use this potential cost savings in travel for our weather allowance. We will amempt to work if we are held up by weather, If we can use our time productively there will be no standby. We have planned on two people traveling to all of the villages with the exception of the first two kick off locations. These personnel will be the future designers who will provide the asbuilt information and get the data necessary for design. We will attempt to acquire information on land status so we can locate the pipelines in the most advantageous position, avoiding existing utilities and reducing to the extent feasible, problems with land acquisition. It is important to note: that we will get what records we can within the time available. We can not guarantee thar the land records will be complete or accurate. Only a detailed more time consuming analysis with title searches by Tom Arminsky will accomplish this. 1503 WEST 33RD STREET e SUITE 310 e ANCHORAGE, ALASKA 99503 PHONE (907) 258-2420 « TELEFAX (907) 258-2419 vcr “ULAIKLUNSUL | WASTE HEAT CONCEPT DESIGN PROPOSAL DATA YEAR 1990 Site Tomrim Final Fee Expenses Repont Report 1.
