TECHNICAL COORDINATION COMMITTEE REPORT
FOR
PROJECT MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING
OF
MAY 4, 1989
JUNEAU, ALASKA
The Technical Coordination Committee (TCC) has not met since the
last Project Management Committee (PMC) meeting of April 6, 1989.
No meetings are scheduled, however, I anticipate a meeting in May
following action (or lack of it) on the Railbelt Interties. As
you may know, additional technical analysis by PTI is on hold
pending direction form the Legislature.
Similarly, there have been no configuration control or project
review meetings since the last PMC meeting. I will attend the
next scheduled project Quarterly Review Meeting on May 24, 1989
at the Project site.
Review of the Project reports and discussions with Dave Eberle
indicate the Project is proceeding very well, on schedule, and under budget. The Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) has made record
time in tunneling, making up lost time. I was recently advised that the TBM is now through the Bull Moose Fault Zone and moving
forward. This is extremely good news in terms of cost and
schedule. This fault zone was viewed as having the possibility
of requiring removal of the TBM for continued tunneling. A
significant budget contingency is dedicated to this possible
event which did not materialize.
