The Alaska Energy Authority (the Authority) will not be issuing a Renewable Energy Fund
(REF) Request for Applications (RFA) in Fiscal Year 2017.
In Fiscal Year 2016, the Authority recommended 39 projects to the legislature for funding
under REF Round IX. The legislature did not appropriate funding for any of these projects
in the state’s Fiscal Year 2017 capital budget. It is for this reason that there will be no RFA
soliciting new grant applications for REF Round X.
Instead, the Authority will recommend the same REF Round IX ranked list of projects to the
legislature in January 2017 for funding consideration in Round X. No new information on
these projects will be requested or considered by the Authority at this time as a part of the
recommendation process. However, should the legislature appropriate funding to any of
the recommended projects, the Authority reserves the right to request additional
information from applicants as the Authority deems necessary to finalize grant agreements.
Round IX applicants are entitled to withdraw their project from the list submitted to the
legislature for funding in Round X at any time prior to January 1, 2017.
