RESOLUTION NO. 5038
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF FAIRBANKS TO APPLY
FOR FUNDS FROM THE ALASKA ENERGY AUTHORITY TO FUND
THE SOLAR PANEL ARRAY PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City has identified the solar panel array as a capital project priority;
and
WHEREAS, this project will decrease energy costs by installing a commercial solar
panel array on an elevated pad at the Public Works compound next to the Alaska State
Troopers' property; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairbanks is eligible to apply for a grant through the Alaska
Energy Authority's Renewable Energy Fund Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the grant award will provide up to $2 million in low energy cost areas
and up to $4 million in high energy costs areas; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairbanks wishes to apply for $1 million; matching funds
are recommended but not required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that the Mayor or his
designee is authorized to execute any and all documents required to apply for funds on
behalf of the City from the Alaska Energy Authority for the Solar Panel Array Project.
