A RESOLUTION REQUESTING FUNDING fROM Alaska Energy Authority -Renewable Energy Fund-Round 1S Naterkaq Light Plant is requesting is requesting $437,000 in funds from AEA-REF Round 15 to be used for installation and integration of a SOOkW/713 kWh battery energy storage
system and integration with our <?lectric thermal stoves to use excess wind for heat. This will optimize the performance of our wind-hybrid energy system. WHEREAS, Naterkaq Light Plant (NLP) is the only electric power generation facility in the community and is owned by the City of Chefornak in the State of Alaska; and WHEREAS, the NLP has a board of dire<tors to manage the utility as a local, stand-alone,
unregulated grid serving the entire population of our community; and WHEREAS, Naterkaq light Plant re<eived a grant of $854,964 from the US Dept of Energy Tribal Infrastructure Program to purchase a SOOkW/677 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS); and WHEREAS, Naterkaq light Plant will provide the $854,964 as matching funds to ensure that
Chefomak receives the greatest reduction in diesel use from our renewable system; and WHEREAS, NLP will also provide additional match with local housing and transportation for
contractors during their site visits. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE NATERKAQ LIGHT PLANT REQUESTS FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $437,000 FOR THE PURPOSE OF: Installing and integrating a SOOkW/713 kWh battery energy storage system to optimize the performance of our wind-heat hybrid energy system. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT Naterkaq light Plant is in good standing with respect to its existing credit and federal tax obligations.
