Renewable Energy Fund — Round 14
This letter is to verifythat the Levelock Electrical Coop, Inc. (LECI) supports the efforts
of the Levelock Village Councilasitpursues energyoptionsthat will enable itto re -start
its fish processing plantin a cost-effective manner.
LECI's concern is that the plantwill need su bstantially more power than the community
needs, and although we supportthis economic developmentfor ourcommunity, we also
need to ensure thatour residents are not burdened bythe additional energy costs to
power the processing plant.
LECI supports the Levelock Village Councii's application to the Alaska En ergy Au th ority
Renewable Energy Fund —Round 14 to develop a Phase III Final Design and Permitting
report.
As the U.S. DOE's Tribal Energy Program is conducting an energy asset inventory and
will provide some general recom men dati on s to th e commu n ity, the best next step is to
create a system design that serves both the processing plant and the community's
needs, which a Phase III grant would provide to us.
As I serve as both the LECI's Manager and as the Tribal Cou n ci I's Vi ce -Ch ai r th e a bi I ity
to meet both needs in ou r comm u n ity i s excepti on al ly important to me, anda Phase III
grantwill help Levelock tremen do u sly.
Thankyou for your consideration of the Levelock Village Council's Round 14
application.
Sinc rely,
Peter Apokeak, Manager
