Box 47020 Aleknagik Pedro Bay, Alaska 99647 - " Chignik Bay Chignik Lagoon RE: Letter of Support —Pedro Bay Knutsen Creek Hydroelectric Project —AEA Renewable Chignik Lake Energy Fund (Round 6) Clarks Point Curyung Dear Keith: Egegik Ekuk The Bristol Bay Native Association is writing to express full support of the application Ekwok submitted by the Pedro Bay Village Council for the design and permitting of the Knutsen Creek Hydroelectric Project. Igiugig Iliamna Pedro Bay currently relies on diesel to generate electricity, and a combination of wood IvanofBay and fuel oil for heating. This project would replace nearly 100 percent of the diesel Kanatak burned for electricity, and a significant amount of fuel oil currently burned to heat public King Salmon buildings. Pedro Bay often has to fly fuel in, as barge service in the Iliamna Lake region Kokhanok has not been reliable or cost effective. As a result, electricity costs in recent years have Koliganck been very high, approaching $1.00 per kWh. This project will help lower and stabilize Levelock the cost of electricity, helping to improve the sustainability of Pedro Bay.
