Thayer Executive Director Alaska Energy Authority 813 West Northern Lights Blvd. Anchorage Alaska 99503 Dear Mr. Thayer, As Mayor of the Municipality of Skagway, I would like to voice my support for Burro Creek Holdings' application for a Renewable Energy Fund Grant. On September 17, 2020, the Skagway Borough Assembly approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Burro Creek Holdings to establish a working relationship to collaboratively plan to provide renewable energy for the enhancement of port development in Skagway. Ms. Wrentmore has been a business person in good standing in our community for 40 years. The Burro Creek Hydro plant has been in existence since 1983 when it was constructed by former owner Captain Gene Richards to support his fish hatchery operation. It is my understanding that with upgrades and expansion, the project could generate between two and seven megawatts of hydro -based power. Our community is supportive of hydro and welcomes the development of alternative, non -diesel generated power sources which will provide our residents, visitors and the large ships which utilize our port with a source of clean energy. Sincerely, — rew Cremata, Mayor mayor@skagway.or
