Bose, Secretary Federal Energy Regulatory Commission 888 First Street, NE Washington, DC 20426 Subject: Nuyakuk River (P-14873-001) Hydroelectric Project Support for Abeyance Request Dear Ms. Bose: On June 8, 2020, Nushagak Electric & Telephone Cooperative (Cooperative) filed a Request for Abeyance of the Licensing Process with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the Nuyakuk River Hydroelectric Project (FERC No. 14873). The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) supports this request. The Cooperative has filed a Proposed Study Plan. Normally, we would expect a series of meetings with the applicant to discuss the Study Plan to make sure the studies themselves and the methods used will provide the information needed for the licensing process. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the level of collaboration and discussion with the Cooperative to date has not been adequate. Given the uncertainty about how the Covid-19 pandemic will develop over the next few months, ADF&G fully supports the Cooperative’s request for an abeyance of the ILP. If you have any questions, please contact me at (907) 267-2836. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Kevin Keith FERC Hydropower Coordinator Alaska Department of Fish and Game (907) 267-2836 Cc: J. Klein, ADF&G C. Warnock, MJA R.
