DESCRIPTION OF WORK The City of Seward has received grant funding to replace
various windows and doors at the Fire Hall and Public Works building The grant is to
improve the energy efficiency throughout the City of Seward. The City of Seward
wishes to enter into an agreement with a qualified, experienced contractor familiar with
window replacement, door replacement, and energy efficiency rating utilizing ARRA
monies.
The scope of work includes Removing 18 3'6"X3'6" windows and replacing with 16
3'6"X3'6" sliding and replacing 2 fixed 3M, triple pane windows at 316 4"' Ave.
Exterior and interior trim needs to be weather resistant, sealed for airlwaterproofing, and
painted to match the existing facility.
Remove the existing public works windows and replace with approximately 5 4X5
sliding, triple pane windows at 434 6"' Ave. Exterior and interior trim needs to be

In addition to the windows contractor shall remove and replace three exterior doors and
one interior door. The south entrance door of the public works building must be ADA
compliant and must be attached to an automatic handicap door opener. This door must
have hinges on the west side and it must open to the South. The interior door to the
north of the exterior door must be a tightly sealed door (to reduce emissions from the
shop to the offices) with hinges on the east side, a window, and a door stopper. This
door needs to open towards the north. The most northwestern exterior door must have
hinges on the north side and open to the east The door must be sealed. The northern
entrance to public works must have hinges on the east side and open towards the north
The door must be sealed. All doors must have a gasket, a '/4 light window, and kick
plate All doors must be commercial grade and steel.
The winning bidder will be required to coordinate scheduling and logistics with the
occupants of the work space to insure a minimally disturbed environment for tenants
and public. There is a mandated pre -construction meeting for the winning contractor for
scheduling and logistics. The winning contractor must adhere with all state, federal and
local laws. The winning bidder must warranty their work for no less than one year from
the completion date
