This is just a quick message about the Thermal Energy Project that will hopefully assist in heating City
offices. The Public Works crew has assisted in the preparation of the well site, and looks forward to
continuing to support the project as it moves forward.
The Water and Wastewater personnel, have looked at the proposed route and will identify any and all
conflicts that the contractor may have in the installation of the underground infrastructure. Water and
sewer lines exist in the corridor, and are deep enough to not be in the zone necessary for a 4 foot bury
depth.
The cost of electricity, with the City owned Electric Utility, may be the determining factor in the Project's
success. As the project develops, and the infrastructure is put into place, the City will be moving forward
with an energy saving project that will provide much needed energy cost relief.
Public Works will continue to support this worthwhile project, and please keep us posted as to the
progress and schedule for construction. We will assist in any way that our resources will allow.
Again, this is an exciting time for Seward, and we at Public Works look forward to this energy saving
project.
