RE: Renewable Energy Fund Round IX Grant Application
Dear Alaska Energy Authority:
Kenai Hydro, LLC appreciates the opportunity to present the enclosed Renewable
Energy Fund Round IX Grant Application for Final Design and Permitting of the Grant
Lake hydroelectric generation project on the Kenai Peninsula.
Since Homer Electric Association's residential retail electric rates are higher than $0.20
per KWh, KHL is requesting grant funds commensurate with the High Energy Cost Areas.
This project will reduce the consumption of natural gas, thereby conserving Cook Inlet
gas supplies. Additionally, this hydroelectric project would help stabilize the long term
price of power to consumers.
This project represents a long term investment in the future of Alaska that provides a
generation asset that would produce clean, renewable power for Alaskans throughout
this century.
