Alaska Energy Authority Renewable Energy Grant Application
WHEREAS, Chugach Electric Association, Inc. (Chugach) has an interest in diversifying its power
generation resources to include renewable energy projects; and
WHEREAS, hydroelectric is a renewable energy resource that would provide fuel diversification
and reduce reliance on natural gas; and
WHEREAS, on March 26, 2014 Chugach and the City of Seward executed a Memorandum of
Agreement to collaboratively evaluate the feasibility of developing a hydroelectric project at Fourth
of July Creek; and
WHEREAS, preliminary analysis performed by Chugach and its consultant has determined that
Fourth of July Creek is a viable hydroelectric resource and project. development should continue
with permit applications, preliminary engineering, design and cost estimation; and
WHEREAS, the Alaska Energy Authority is currently soliciting Round VIII Renewable Energy
Fund Grant Applications; and
WHEREAS, Chugach can apply for grant funds to further the preliminary development of the
Fourth of July Creek project; and
WHEREAS, a resolution that supports the grant application and ensures that Chugach is in
compliance with applicable laws is required.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, Chugach shall submit an Alaska Energy Authority
Renewable Energy Fund Grant Application to further develop a hydroelectric project at Fourth of
July Creek and is committed to supporting this project and providing the internal resources,
including the matching funds, specified in the grant application.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, Bradley Evans, Chief Executive Officer, is authorized to commit
Chugach to any obligations under the grant.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, Ronald K. Vecera, Director of Renewable Energy Business
Development, is designated as the point of contact to represent Chugach for purposes of this grant
application.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, Chugach is in compliance with applicable federal, state and local
laws including existing credit and federal tax obligations.
