To whom it may concern:
The Naukati Bay Inc. Community Association unanimously supports Southeast
Island School District's application for a heat energy grant from Alaska Energy
Authority. Wood boilers provide practical and cost efficient heat for schools in
rural areas. The cost of diesel in our community is $5.05 per gallon. If awarded,
this grant would allow our children to have more educational opportunities by
reducing the cost of heating the facility. Additionally, utilizing wood --a renewable
resource --to operate the boiler creates a small business opportunity for someone in
our economically challenged community. We believe that changing to wood boiler
heat have a positive and lasting impact on the students and community of Naukati
Bay. We fully support Southeast Island School District's pursuit of AEA's heat
