Re: Renewable Energy Fund Project Endorsement
Interior Regional Housing Authority (IRHA) supports and endorses the IRHA Facility Biomass Feasibility
Study Project. In past rounds of Renewable Energy Fund grants, IRHS has applied for projects in the
villages we serve; this year we are turning our attention to IRHA owned facilities in Fairbanks and
Nenana. We are requesting funding for a feasibility study to examine the use of biomass in our
Fairbanks office building, our Fairbanks warehouse and the Meda Lord Center in Nenana which is a 15
unit senior living center with exorbitant heating costs. It is our hope that the practices of using biomass
in the villages is also a viable option for more urban settings such as Fairbanks and Nenana.
We are excited at the prospect of saving utility dollars through biomass. It is always in the best interests
of the communities we serve to lower overhead, so more funding can be spent on direct programs.
Examining biomass appliances and sources in larger, road -accessible communities should prove to be an
interesting project that will provide information in a larger context as well.
As Chief Executive Officer, I affirm that IRHA is eligible to apply forthis funding and that IRHA is in
compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws including existing credit and tax obligations.
IRHA has the organizational capacity and is committed to implementing this project. As CEO and signer
of this application, I have the authority (vested by the Board of Commissioners) to commit IRHA to the
obligations under this grant. Point of contact to represent IRHA for purposes of this application is
Russell Snyder, Grants Coordinator (rsnyder@irha.orR).
