WHEREAS, Hydaburg City Schad District (HCSD) strives to minimize ovecsad
costs, inducting energy bills, oo fiat more funds may be allomled to ecucetional
programs; and
WHEREAS, funding is available through dne Renewable Energy Grant Program and
Me Alaska Energy Authority for energy-generagng, wood- or forest -based projects

WHEREAS, HCSD has over tidy years d expenenm maintaining a K-12 school
site, is financialty stable, and is compliant With applimble federal, slate and local
laws inducing aksMrg crecit and federal tax obligations; and
WHEREAS, the woad heating system at Hydaburg Sdgol will be an energy sousing.
nodoxic, low emission, offimerd system and a model example for other wood
heating projects in schools around dm SYSM of Alaska: and
WHERERAS, a prior feasibility study for wood Iresting at HCSD will serve as Me
reference comment for Me Woobbased supplemental heating pmject at Hydaburg
Sdgol; and
WHEREAS, Lauren Burch Will serve as indivkual to sign Me applimbon, has
authority to mount Me organization to Me obligatons under Me grant, and will be
Me point dmnWcL representing Me applicant for purposes of the application; and
WHEREAS, HCSD will commit In prrnride Me matching resources for projects at Me
amounts indicated in application, lo indude in kirk contributions and not to exceed a
S40,000 cash match.
