Dear Mr. Calfa
The Southeast Alaska Power Agency ("SEAPA") is pleased to submit the enclosed application
for Renewable Energy Grant funding. The proposed uses of grant funds is to conduct Phases 1
and 11 of a wind resource assessment along transmission line paths owned by SEAPA, which
extend from Katchikan to Petersburg.
Tha study is proposed to determine if it is feasible to use wind power to supplement the energy
needs and displace diesel for the communities it serves, which include Katchikan, Petersburg,
and Wrangell, with the long-term objective and goal of serving the power Heads of additional
communities, including Kake.
SEAPA is requesting $88,74'1.50 in Renawa ble Energy Grant funds, which SEAPA will match
with a SOh cash match of $76,385.50; the hard -dollar match is in addition to an in -kind
contribution of $3,456.00, which consists of storage fees to house the Meteorological Tower
sent to SEAPA by the Alaska Energy Authonty, and which was accepted by SEAPA in July
20t 3, and administrative time for management of this wind study effort.
SEAPA acknowledges antl agrees that this project and its results are for the benefit of the
communities of Katchikan, Wrangell, antl Petersburg, with the long-term objective and goal of
serving the power needs of additional communities, including Kake. SEAPA will not deny any
parson use or benefit of the project or project results due to race, religion, color, national origin,
age, physical handicap, sex, marital status, changes in marital status, pregnancy, or
parenthood.
