To Whom It May Concern:
The Yakutat Tlingit Tribe (YTT) wishes to express its support for the grant application submitted by the
City and Borough of Yakutat (CBY) for Round 7 of the Renewable Energy Grant program. The project
is entitled: Yakutat Biomass District Heating Loop.
The project will replace a significant amount of diesel heating oil for buildings used by the public.
YTT supports utilizing local biomass as a heat source, rather than continuing dependence on imported
diesel. We support sustainable sources of heat that make sense ecologically and economically. This
project will allow the participants to keep our money more in the community. It is a project that fits the
goals that have been expressed by YTT, Yak -Tat Kwaan, the CBY, and the people of Yakutat.
Lowering the cost of energy and increasing our independence has been identified as a top priority in
Yakutat for many years, and we are very supportive of taking steps such as this toward our goals.
