RESOLUTION 2013-04
A RESOLUTION OF THE PORT ALSWORTH IMPROVEMENT CORPORATION TO SEEK FUNDS
FOR RECONNAISSANCE, FEASIBILITY AND CONCEPTUAL DESIGN OF HYDROPOWER IN
THE TANALIAN RIVER.
WHEREAS, the Port Alsworth Improvement Corporation is a 501(c)(3) established for the
purpose of improving the quality of life for the community members and visitors of Port
Alsworth; and
WHEREAS, the Port Alsworth Improvement Corporation is in compliance with federal, state,
and local laws; and
WHEREAS, the Port Alsworth Improvement Corporation has no liens, lawsuits or judgements
against it and is in compliance with all credit and tax obligations; and
WHEREAS, the Port Alsworth Improvement Corporation is working with Alaska Energy
Authority on a conceptual design for a new powerhouse for the community and wishes to
incorporate renewable energy into the design; and
WHEREAS, the Port Alsworth Improvement Corporation wishes to seek funds from the Alaska
Energy Authority's Renewable Energy Grant VII; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the funds will be for the pre -construction phase of in -river and
kinetic hydro on the Tanalian River; and
WHEREAS, the Port Alsworth Improvement Corporation recognizes certain constraints in both
of these projects and wishes to explore both options for feasibility; and
WHEREAS, the Port Alsworth Improvement Corporation recognizes Beth Hill as the
Administrative Assistant and gives her the authority to sign documents in relation to this grant;
WHEREAS, the Port Alsworth Improvement Corporation agrees to comply with the obligations
of this grant.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Port Alsworth Improvement
Corporation wishes to seek funds from the AEA Renewable Energy Fund VII for the purpose of
hydropower reconnaissance, feasibility study, and conceptual design.
PASSED AND APPROVED by a duly constituted quorum of the Port Alsworth Improvement
Corporation on the 20th day of September, 2013.
