RE: Native Village of Cantwell Jack River Hydro — Feasibility Study
Dear Ms. Fisher -Goad:
In a continuing effort, Ahtna, Incorporated supports and requests the Alaska Energy
Authority for Grant Round VII funding of the native Village of Cantwell to conduct a
feasibility study on the jack River hydroelectric potential.
As you are already aware certain funds were allocated to conduct site reconnaissance in
2011, with a report completed earlier this year. The report identified several project
configurations with generating potential of 1.6 to 7.3 MW. The feasibility study would
collect additional site data including additional hydrology, fisheries, and geotechnical
data, to identify a preferred project configuration and feasibility.
It is vitally important for the State of Alaska, Native Village of Cantwell, and Ahtna to
develop this highly accessible site for the local railbelt communities and businesses.
