RE: Atka Dispatchable Heat Project
Dear Julie:
The Native Village of Atka supports the Atka Dispatchable Heat Project that will provide less expensive
heat to the tribal offices and community building using renewable energy from the Churumsax Creek
hydro -electric plant.
The Native Village of Atka will allow the City of Atka to install dispatchable heat equipment to their
buildings and agrees to maintain the equipment in good working order.

A RESOLUTION OF THE ATKA CITY COUNCIL CONCERNING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING TO IMPLEMENT
THE ATKA DISPATCHABLE HEAT PROJECT USING EXCESS ELECTRIC FROM THE CHUNIIXSAX CREEK HYDRO
PLANT.
WHEREAS, the Chuniixsax Creek hydro -electric plant is capable of producing up to 283 kW of electricity for
the majority of the year; and
WHEREAS, the anticipated present and future load of the community is not expected to exceed the
amount the hydro plant is capable of producing making excess energy available for other purposes; and
WHEREAS, design work has been completed to install equipment to heat eight public buildings in Atka to
make use of excess energy produced by the hydro plant with the total estimated cost to be $135,2S4
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Atka City Council authorizes submission of a grant application
to the Alaska Energy Authority Renewable Energy Fund Round VII; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that
• The City of Atka will provide a cash match 15% or $20,289 of the total project costs
• The Mayor and/or City Administrator are authorized to commit the City of Atka to the obligations
of the grant
• The City Administrator is designated as the point of contact to represent the City of Atka for the
purposes of this application
• The Atka City Council certifies that the City is in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws
concerning credit and federal tax obligations.
