To Whom it May Concern;
We are writing to show our support for Hydaburg City School District's application for a heat energy
grant from the Alaska Energy Authority. This project involves placing cord wood-fired boilers at the
Hydaburg City Schools in Hydaburg, AK on Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska. The district
intends to use wood biomass to heat the school buildings, replacing diesel as the energy source. The
project involves placing two Garn wood fired boilers adjacent to the gym site and two Garn wood-fired
boilers adjacent to the elementary school site. Underground pipes from the wood-fired boiler to plumb
into the school's heating system.
Switching to a biomass system of renewable fuel will encourage small business opportunities for
providing firewood to the district. In short, we fully support this application for replacing systems
reliant on fossil fuels to a system proven to be efficient, non-polluting, and sustainable.
