HomeMy WebLinkAbout7a Nenana City School Board Resolution 02-2013NENANA CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS P.O. sox 00010 NENANA, ALASKA 99760 907-832-5464 PAX 907-832-2008 Resolution Number: 02-2013 A RESOLUTION TO REDUCE ENERGY COSTS FOR THE DISTRICT, CITY, & TRIBE Whereas, the Nenana City School District desires to reduce the District's energy costs in order to provide a maximum amount of funding for educational purposes, and Whereas, the Nenana City School District has long desired to utilize alternative/renewable fuels to produce the energy resources necessary for school district operations, and Whereas, the Nenana City School District has a positive history of working cooperatively with the City of Nenana, the Nenana Native Council, and other entities in Nenana on projects that benefit the community as a whole, and Whereas, the Nenana City School District recognizes and desires to participate in projects that will contribute an economic benefit to the Nenana community, and Whereas, the Nenana City School District Administration has reviewed the "Pre -Feasibility Assessment for Integration of Wood -Fired Heating Systems" that concludes that "Connecting the school with several nearby buildings with a wood fired district heating system appears to be an economically viable project." Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Nenana City School District apply in consortia with the City of Nenana and the Nenana Native Council to the Alaska Energy Authority for a "Final Design and Permitting" grant for the building of a wood chip boiler heating system to serve the Nenana City Public School, the Nenana City School District Administration Building, the Nenana City School District Warehouse Building, the Nenana Student Living Center, the Nenana City Water Plant Building, the Nenana Fire Department Building, and the Youth Educational Resource Center, and Be it further resolved that the Nenana City School District commits to the matching resources for the proposed project at the match amounts indicated in the application, and Be it further resolved that the Nenana City School District designates Superintendent Eric Gebhart with the authority to commit the organization to the obligations under the grant application, and Be it further resolved that the Nenana City School District designates Superintendent Eric Gebhart as the point of contact for purposes of this application. Be it further resolved that the School Board certifies that the Nenana City School District is in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local, laws including existing credit and federal tax obligations.
