Dear Mr. Calfa,
Please accept this letter of support for the "Nenana Collaborative Biomass Heating
System Project" application being submitted by the Nenana City School District in
collaboration with the City of Nenana and the Nenana Native Council.
We are the Student Leadership Team at the Nenana Student Living Center. We are the
governing body over the up to 88 students that come to live at the Nenana Student Living
Center (NSLC) from all over Alaska. Being a part of this team means we ask the student
body what they would like to see in every aspect of the NSLC. We make decisions
regarding rules, we help with activities, and we come up with new ways to improve the
NSLC. We believe this collaborative project will improve the NSLC greatly.
The Student Leadership Team feel that this project will not only help us heat the several
buildings involved, but bring this small community even closer together. This project will
bring more jobs, educational opportunities and save the community money in heating oil.
We come from all over Alaska and believe there will be numerous opportunities for us to
learn ourselves and also bring this technology back to our own villages. Improving our
own villages as well as our school year home, Nenana, helps everyone's future.
