Dear Mr. Calfa,
I am a life-long resident of Nenana and a graduate of Nenana High School.
I am a teacher at my alma mater and have chosen to raise my four children
in this community and great school. I am writing in support of the "Nenana
Collaborative Biomass Heating System Project" application being
submitted by the Nenana City School District together with the City of
Nenana and the Nenana Native Council.
I find this cause to be very important, not only to Nenana, but to many
communities in Alaska. It will serve as a testament of the feasibility of
such projects throughout our state. The Biomass Heating System
reduces the cost to local and state governments of heating the school and
other public buildings. This project will allow the school district and
community to reduce their dependence on a resource that has rapidly
increased in cost, with no relief of this burden in sight. Finally, this
opportunity will provide badly needed employment for local residents and
an economic boost to many small businesses in our area.
Please support in every way you can Nenana's Biomass Grant application
and make a difference in our community.
