Dear Mr. Calfa,
Please accept this letter of support for the "Nenana Collaborative Biomass Heating
System Project" application being submitted by the Nenana City School District, in
collaboration with the City of Nenana and the Nenana Native Council.
I have lived and worked in the Nenana area for over 37 years. My children, and now
grandchildren, have attended Nenana City Public School for their entire educational
career. I am currently manager of a small local business. This project would benefit
and have a tremendous impact on everyone in this community.
Following are some of the reasons that I support this project:
• Reducing energy costs at the school would enable more funds to be used for
educational purposes.
• Enable us to use alternative and renewable sources of energy that will help
us reduce our dependence on oil.
• Economic benefit to the school, city, and native council.
• Provide much needed local employment for this area.
• Help manage the forests that surround Nenana and mitigate the danger of
spreading wildfires.
• This project benefits the local economy and will benefit many local
businesses, including the one I manage.
Please give favorable consideration to Nenana's Biomass Grant application. Thank
you for your time and attention to this matter.
