HomeMy WebLinkAboutbbbsd rnewable energy resolutionResolution #01-FY2013 Whereas, the Bristol Bay Borough School District has made energy savings a priority of the district, and in recent years has completed a number of projects to ensure we stay focused on that important task, and Whereas, the Board has committed to preserving more of our general fund for classroom instruction and student support, and less for maintenance and operations, and Whereas, there are many examples of what we have done to move on these critical costs including a 2009 library remodel, a 2010 retrofit of our old gym lights and made other upgrades to that facility to help modernize older, less efficient systems. In 2012 we replaced our front doors, and we have conducted an investment grade audit of the facility that will help us continue these improvements, and Whereas, in the past year we have made plans to renovate our shop and kitchen areas, and we have been awarded funding by the State Legislature to help accomplish that task. There is no doubt that our district efforts could be helped significantly by other resources from the Alaska Energy Authority, and Whereas, we are hoping that the district will be awarded funding from the Renewable Energy Fund to continue on these efforts Be it therefore resolved that the Bristol Bay Borough Board of Education thinks our district is ready to work with AEA on energy projects and appreciate your consideration of our 2013 application. Be it further resolved that we will make a full commitment to those items necessary, should we believe that the Renewable Energy Fund can help us complete the prioritized tasks of the district over the next few years. Signed this 9th day of October, 2012. _______________________________ _____________________________ Board President Signature Superintendent Signature _______________________________ _____________________________ Date Date
