Ram Valley, LLC is applying for funding under the Alaska Energy Authority's
Renewable Energy Fund Round VI for a feasibility study that could determine
the potential for a small-scale hydroelectric generating system on Juniper
Creek in Eagle River Valley.
Matanuska Electric Association believes that such a feasibility study should
fully explore this stream's potential for energy production and supports this
type effort for ascertaining viable small hydroelectric projects within MEA's
service area, for the benefit of our members.
MEA's board of directors supports pursuit of new renewable energy projects
into the future. This study may be beneficial to MEA to help fulfill its
renewable energy objectives; therefore this is a first step to ascertain the
feasibility of the Juniper Creek hydroelectric resource and should be
supported by AEA's grants program.
