MISSION STATEMENT: The Southwest Region School District is committed to all students receiving an
education that continuously affirms human diversity, that validates the history and culture of all ethnic groups,
that is based on high expectation for academic success for every student, and that encourages students and
parents' active participation.
The Board reserves the right to go into executive session at any time as permitted by Alaska Law.
Alaska State Law 44.62.310 snakes all school board meetings open to the public except the following excepted subjects
may be discussed in executive session:
• Matters, the immediate knowledge of which would clearly have an adverse effect on the finances of the
government unit;
• Subjects that tend to prejudice the reputation of character of any person, provided that person may request a
public discussion,
• Matters which by law, municipal charter or ordinance are required to be confidential.
