Position Description: Project Coordinator for Wood-Based Energy
SUMMARY
As part of its ongoing program to implement and encourage energy efficiency,
conservation, and sustainable energy in Galena and surrounding villages, Louden Tribal
Council will employ a Project Coordinator for Wood-Based Energy. This position has
been developed for work associated with activities under grant funding from the Alaska
Energy Authority Round 6.
DUTIES
The professional-level employee will:
• Coordinate closely with the Louden Tribal Administrator and board, with the City
of Galena Manager and Council, the Galena City School District and contractors
to seek and develop sustainable biomass based heating and power, and to
organize and direct firewood harvest projects and contractors.
• Act as a single point of contact for wood based and other renewable energy
projects to be undertaken by Louden Tribal Council.
• Prepare and submit reports and recommendations to the Louden Tribal
Administrator, the City of Galena, and to other agencies as required.
• Perform site management and direction for development and installation of
energy project as directed.
SUPERVISION
The employee will serve at the discretion and direction of the Tribal Administrator, and
will provide reports to the City Manager and City School Superintendent on activities
and projects.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The employee will reside in Galena, Alaska, and will work part time; up to approximately
1000 hours per year as directed.
TRAINING AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent degree in an appropriate technical or
business field is required. In addition, the employee will have at least five years of
technical or professional experience in the fields of science, engineering, or business
management.
