Northern Lights Blvd. Anchorage, AK 99503 Re: Support for the AGSD Biomass Heat Loop Project: AEA 13-006 Round 6 Renewable Energy Fund grant application Dear Mr. Calfa: This letter is to express Tok Community Clinic, Inc. support for Alaska Gateway School District's (AGSD) Biomass Heat Loop Project being submitted to the Alaska Energy Authority. Tok Community Clinic, Inc. is a local nonprofit origination that operates a building to provide office space for medical providers and to supply an Advanced Life Support Ambulance service to the community and surrounding area. Our building houses the Tok Clinic LLC which provides mid -level medical services to residences of Tok, the surrounding communities and the traveling public. Also Dr. Susan Crawford provides dental services to the community from offices in this building. The remaining space is used by the Tok Area EMS Ambulance Service for operations and training. Our income sources are limited and with the escalating cost of heating fuel and electricity our expenses have exceeded our income for several years. We strongly depend on our community for financial and volunteer support. We have spoken with Legislators, AP&T and other businesses about available help and ways to reduce our operating cost. We support AGSD's application for a grant from AEA to design and build a heat loop originating from the AGSD wood boiler facility. With the funding for facilities such as ours tightening, we recognize the need to adapt our business models, including diversification of energy resources. We are pleased that the proposed project would offer lower and more stable heat energy prices for the future. You are welcome to contact me with any questions. Sincerely, Ja k Rutledge Agent, Tok Community Clinic, Inc. Assistant Chief, Tok Area EMS PO Box 33 Tok AK 99780 907-883-5873 taems@aptalaska.net
