Title: AutPtorization for the Operation of Tlingit-M&
Regional Electrical Authority
WHEREAS, the Center! Council of Tlingit and Haider Indian Tubes of Alaska (Centml
Council) is a %derally recognized tribe of more than 29,000 tribal citizens worldwide, and
WHEREAS, the Central Council is involved the development of housing, roads, uiditie%
industrial development end commercial enterprises throughout Southeast Alaska; and
WHEREAS, tho C@ntM1 Council is rowpind wader AS 18.55.996(a) and AS 18.57.010
as the aseociction ewpovmcod to authorize a regional electrical authority to transact business and
exercise ft power,v granted to regional electrical authorities under AS 18.57.01 D..110; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 75-76-3, dated June 21, 1975, the Central Council
authorized the operation of the Tlingit-Haids Regional Electrical Authority; and
WHEREAS, the Tlingit Haider Regional Electrical Authority commenced operation and
provided electric generation and distribution services in various communities t6re*out
Southeast Alaslat until trmsfaring its nub and operatiom to Inside Pasasge Electric
Cooperative, Inc., which assumed operations begimsing in 2W4; and
WHEREAS, there is now a need for the Tlingit-Haida Regional Electrical Authority to
participate in exploring the development of Southeast Alaska's hydroelectric resources and
otherwise exercise the power granted to it under AS 18.57.010-.110;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Executive Council of the Central
Council that there is need for a regional electricd authority to function in the operating area of
Southeast Alaaka; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that pursuant to the authority vested in the Central
Council under AS 18.55.996(a) and AS 19-57.010, the Tlingit Haida Regional Electrical
Authority is hereby authorized and directed to finaction under the aforementioned statutes, and
