I am writing to support the funding request from the Native Village of Cantwell for a feasibility
study regarding a hydro project on the lack River.
Several years ago I accompanied representatives from the Native Village, AEA, and the Denali
Borough to visit the area and discuss the potential for hydro electric generation somewhere along the
Jack River corridor. Everyone present agreed that this particular area was well suited for this type of
facility and could have a significant role for future environmentally friendly, affordable energy. This
location is also very close to the intertie which will make distribution of energy produced convenient
and less expensive to connect to the grid than many other proposed projects.
