Box 57 • KiPNUK, ALASKA 99614 (907) 896-5515 • FAX (907) 896-5240 i Resolution 11-21 A Resolution supporting the application of Kipnuk Light Plant on behalf of the community of Kipnuk for financial assistance to Renewable Energy Fund for the wind energy and wind heating system. WHEREAS: The Native Village of Kipnuk is a federally recognized Tribal entity in the State of Alaska, and the Kipnuk Traditional Council is the governing body for the Native Village of Kipnuk, and; WHEREAS: The Kipnuk Traditional Council provides electrical utility services to the community d.b.a. Kipnuk Light Plant, and; WHEREAS: The Kipnuk Light Plant is a certified electric utility serving Kipnuk governed by a Board of Directors, and; WHEREAS: Alaska Energy Authority is soliciting applications for the Renewable Energy Fund Round 5 for funding for renewable energy projects around the state of Alaska, and; WHEREAS: Kipnuk Light Plant desires to increase the energy efficiency of the local power plant, tribal homes and community buildings, while reducing the fossil fuel requirement and have acquired funding to achieve that goal, and; WHEREAS: Kipnuk Light Plant endeavors to pursue funding from the Renewable Energy Fund Round 5 to pursue renewable energy solutions; WHEREAS: Kipnuk Light Plant commits to providing the matching resources indicated in the application to the Renewable Energy Fund Round 5; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Native Village of Kipnuk hereby supports the Kipnuk Light Plant's application to the Renewable Energy Fund of Alaska and its efforts to cooperate and coordinate these energy projects with the Chaninik Wind Group, and authorize Sam J. Carl, KLP Manager to represent them as an application for their efforts to apply for, secure, and obtain funding to supplement their high -penetration wind system. CERTIFICATION The foregoing resolution was passed and approved by a duly convened meeting of the Kipnuk Traditional Council, this 2sth day of August, 2011. and OABSTAINING. mes Mesak Jr. ,Treasurer
