Box 76009 Tanacross , Alaska 99706 Resolution Number �.� �- � 1 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING ALASKA ENERGY AUTHORITY ROUND 5 RENEWABLE ENERGY GRANT PROGRAM FUNDING FOR THE TANACROSS PUBLIC FACILITY BIOMASS SPACE HEATING PROJECT VMEREAS, theNat"veV*llage of Tanacross thri�ough its govemingbody,, Tanacross'"'I'Viliage, Council ,, is sole governing body of the Tanacross,, Alaska and WHEREAS, the public facilities at Tanacross are centrally clustered in the middle of village which makes them accessible to district heating options, and WHEREAS, the Tanacross Vi*llage Council has determined that the high cost of space heating its public lacilities with imported fuel oil is causing a significant cash drain on the economy of Tanacross and that there is opportunity to supplant feel oil space heating with locally harvested Woody biomass fired systems, lower energy costs, create local biomass employment opportunities ,and WHEREAS, the Tanacross Village Council has undertaken a thorough investigation of the costs and benefits o woody biomass space heating of its public facilities and determined that construction and operation of a centrally located woo y biomass space station will generate significant cast-savings to the Tribe and also create local employment of residents, and WHEREAS, the Tanacross Village Council (TVC) has in storage new building materials and insulated arctic piped sufficient to construct an insulated building for the planned Tanacross Public Facility Biomass Space Heating Project, extend heating piping to targeted public facilities Is and that TVC desires to donate these materials to the AEA Round 5 funding. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Tanacross Village Council respectfully requests an AEA Round 5 appropriation in the amount of $420,000 for purposes of fully fund the 0 planned Tanacross Public Facility Biomass Space Heating Project and authorizes its President, Roy Denny to sign all AEA application documents, and BE IT SOLVED, that the Tanacross Village Council hereby agrees to donate building materials and arctic sufficient to construction the building (at an estimated value of $170,000) for the planned Tanacross Public FacilitylomasSxmw Be Heating Project and also agrees to donate Sufficient arcti'0c pipe to extend the heating system lines to the targeted public facilities described in the AEA Round 5 funding application submitted by Tanacross Village Council. I.
