Subject: Packer's Creek Hydroelectric Project Letter of Recommendation
Dear Chignik Lagoon Village Council:
This letter shows BBAHC's full support for the Packer's Creek Hydroelectric
Project, which we understand is in the final stages of permitting and design.
The project will meet an estimated94% of Chignik Lagoon's existing electrical
demand and offset use of an estimated 44,000 gallons of diesel generation fuel; with
savings of approximately $188,000 ayear. Additional public benefits would
include fewer pollutants discharged in the air and less risk for environmental
liability.
The projected savings of having this hydro project will have a positive impact on the
community of Chignik Lagoon. Any decrease in cost of basic life needs helps
people to decide on staying in their community and may also help with the
community's growth. The project will also have a savings in the operation of the
Chignik Lagoon village clinic by reducing fuel and electrical costs.
In closing, we encourage the funders to continue to move the project forward.
Sincerely,
Nondalton ,rl

Mr. Grunert:
The Lake and Peninsula School District is in support of the community of the Chignik Lagoon's
Packer's Creek Hydroelectric Project.
LPSD believes the development of the hydroelectric project benefit the community of Chignik
Lagoon and the environment in many ways. Reduced reliance on fossil fuels resulting in less
waste to the environment is desirable. LPSD will benefit from reduced cost of electricity and is
interested in the potential availability of interruptible electric space heat.
Please keep us informed as your project progresses. If there is opportunity for collaboration on
design and/or installation of electric boilers to utilize excess power generation by the project
similar to the recent Tazimina collaboration we are open to all possibilities.
Sincerely,
Ty Mase
