Dear Mr. White:
Enclosed you will find Chugach Electric Association's (Chugach's) renewable energy
grant application for funding to continue the process of design and construction of a
transmission line to deliver geothermal energy from Mt. Spurr to the Railbelt. The
specific phase being planned for this Round V grant is the permitting and design of the
substations at each end of the line.
The proposed line, on the west side of Cook Inlet, will connect the renewable energy
resource being developed by Ormat at Mt. Spurr to Chugach's existing facilities at the
Beluga Power Plant.
The package includes:
• The grant application
• A Grant/budget worksheet for design and permitting of substations
• A project cost/benefit worksheet
• Letters of support
• A map of the area where the project will be located
• Professional bios for the project manager and other key staff
• An organizational chart of Chugach's Power Delivery Division
• A signed resolution from Chugach's Board of Directors
Chugach's point of contact for this grant application is Ron Vecera, Director of Project
Development. He can be reached directly at 762-4759.
Sincerely,
