School: By out side dimension, the lower floor has 4420 sq ft and the upper floor has 1200 sq ft for a total of 5620 sq ft. The shape of the school is 85' by 85' square with a "cut out" on the SW corner of 25' by 40'. There was an addition of 16' by 20' added on the NE corner. At this point RBA Engineers does not have any detailed information on the existing heating system. Heat and ventilation is provided by a combination of hydronic baseboard and cabinet unit heaters as well air handler units. Both, the school and teacher housing are supplied by an external boiler room. B. Teacher Housing: The approximate square footage of the teacher housing is between 1,000 and 1,100 square feet. C. Wood Boiler \ Wood Shed: One wood boiler will supply both buildings by connecting to the existing HGS/R piping in the in external boiler room. The heat from the wood boiler will be delivered via arctic pipe. The wood shed will have storage capacity for 60% of the annual wood demand. Its roof will extend over the boiler and operating area. The wood boiler and shed will be secured by a 6’ high chain link fence. Economically, this option has a faster payback since the arctic pipe connection between wood boiler and existing boiler room is very short. Even though two (2) buildings are being heated only one connection is needed. Thus, only one heat exchanger and limited glycol piping help keeping the costs low.
