HomeMy WebLinkAboutCityofCold Bay ResolutionSEP-08-2010 12:21 PM CITY OF COLD BAY 5322671 P. 2 CITY OF COLD BAY, ALAS" RESOLUTION 11-02 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COLD BAY SUPPORTING THE SUBMITTAL OF A RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECT GRANT APPLICATION FROM G&K INCORPORATED- COLD BAY ELECTRIC UTILITY TO THE ALASKA ENERGY AUTHORITY'S RENEWABLE ENERGY FUND ROUND IV GRANT PROGRAIINI, WHEREAS, the high cost of diesel fuel and electricity in Cold Bay results in decreased living standards for residents, higher costs for both government service provision and local business, and hinders economic development; and WHEREAS, the City of Cold Bay is committed to reducing dependence on diesel fuel and contribute to the reduction of air pollution and its affect on climate change; and, WHEREAS, the City of Cold Bay seeks to implement long term renewable energy projects that result in sustainable and measurable energy savings to the community; and, WHEREAS, the City of Cold Bay is working with G&K Incorporated- Cold Bay Electric Utility and. the Aleutians East Borough to implement the renewable energy project recommendations contained in the 2010 AEB Renewable Energy Assessment; and, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Cold Say City Council supports submittal of the renewable energy grant entitled G°The Cold Bay Electric Grid Connect Wind Project with Electric Thermal Heat Recovery" by G&K incorporated- Cold Bay Electric Utility to the Alaska Energy Authority in order to reduce dependence on diesel fuel resulting in a sustained and measurable energy savings, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY OF COLD BAY on this 7th day of September, 2010.
