Dear Mr. Evans:
Alaska Fly Fishers supports Chugach’s Alaska Energy Authority renewable energy grant
application for funding to design and construct a diversion structure at Stetson Creek, outlet
works at Cooper Lake Dam, and a pipeline.
In addition to increasing the hydroelectric energy output of the Cooper Lake hydroelectric plant,
this project would improve fish habitat and result in environmental and recreational benefits.
In summary, this project is the result of many years of cooperative work among a variety of
stakeholders. As a stakeholder, Alaska Fly Fishers agrees that this is an important and beneficial
project. We support Chugach’s application for funds to help bring this project to completion.
