Dear Senator Murkowski:
I am writing in support of funding for the Snettisham Avalanche Mitigation
project. Damage to the transmission line caused by the avalanches of 2008 and
2009 resulted in the use of diesel generators to provide Juneau's energy. The high
cost of diesel generation had a significant economic impact to the community. The
funding request proposed by Alaska Electric Light and Power Company and the
Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority could significantly reduce
recovery time and dependency on oil.
