Dear State Historic Preservation Officer Bitmer I am writing to you to notify you that we are applying for a federal grant that requires contacting your office. Southeast Island School District is applying for a grant to supplement the diesel -fired boilers with wood fired boilers to heat the school and gym. The boilers are small metal structures placed 30 feet from the school. There will be very little disturbance to the area. The school was built in 1988 and the area was drilled and blasted and filled with shot rock. Construction will involve pouring a cement pad and placing the wood fired boiler on top of the cement pad, plumbing it into the existing boilers, the area surrounding the boilers will be fenced off to discourage access to the wood feed door of the boiler. Attached is an example of the type of boiler that will purchase for the project. Attached also please find a copy of the topographic map that show the two proposed sites for the boilers. One boiler will be placed near the school the other boiler will be placed near the gym complex. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact our district office. Sincerely, Liz Mosenthin_ Masi Southeast Island School District Grant Coordinator
