This project will result in the installation of wood -fired hot water boilers at Su Valley High School. This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate how wood biomass can be used in the Borough as a sustainable economic alternative to fuel oil. This project moves the borough forward with implementation of its energy efficiency and conservation strategy. Programs contained in the strategy are expected to deliver a 20% increase in the amount of renewable energy usage and a 20% increase in energy efficiency by 2020. Not only will this project result in over half the heating needs of the school being met through a renewable energy source, but it also will provide an opportunity for an education program for alternative energy that can be shared locally as well as abroad. The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is committed to becoming a more energy efficient and environmentally sustainable organization. Sincerely, , C, \ Elizabeth Gray Acting Manager
