Dear Mr. Pine:
This is in reference to the amount of biofuels the U. S. Forest Service could make available for
alternate energy wood -base here in the City of Hoonah.
We, the U. S. Forest Service, are committed to a supply of raw materials to support the use of
wood as a source of energy to offset the use of fossil fuels in southeast Alaska. We have a recent
Forest Plan that recognizes this need and we are working cooperatively with other agencies to
find an efficient way to deliver it.
As District Ranger of the Hoonah Ranger District, I commit to supporting alternate energy
wood -base, to the extent of my authority on NE Chichagof Island.
