The current elevation of Scenery Lake is 957’. A concrete core rock-filled dam of up to 15’ high is proposed. Lake Tap or Siphon Lake Tap/Power Conduit. The inlet works will consist of either a lake tap or a siphon system with a screened intake. Water would be withdrawn through the screened intake into an approximately 13,000’ long, 8’ diameter buried steel penstock and delivered to the powerhouse. Spillway. A spillway would be provided for discharge from the storage reservoir as necessary. Penstocks. The power conduit will be an 8’ diameter buried steel penstock. Powerhouse. The powerhouse would be located approximately 1,000’ from the mouth of Scenery Creek. The actual site would be dependent on environmental and economic considerations. The powerhouse would contain two to four Francis turbines, each with a rated head of 950 feet, and a combined designed flow capacity of 400 to 600 cubic feet per second (cfs). Tailrace. Discharge from turbines would be directed by a short tailrace into Scenery Creek. Access Roads. The Project is separated from the nearest town of Petersburg by Frederick Sound. The only access for either construction or long- term operation and maintenance of the Project would be via boat or aircraft. A new dock or landing would be constructed near the mouth of Scenery Creek as well as a new road for construction, operation and maintenance of the facility. Construction access would also be provided by seaplane and/or helicopter in addition to the dock and road system. Mayor Albert Howard City of Angoon, Alaska P.O.
