Dear AEA Staff:
Alaska Power & Telephone (AP&T) is pleased to provide this letter of commitment for
the Alaska Biomass Combined Heat & Power (CHP) Project, for a new advanced
biomass gasification system that will convert woody biomass into renewable heat and
electricity in Tok, Alaska. AP&T is interested in hosting a 2 MWe demonstration site for
a new cogeneration system, which will combine Nexterra gasification equipment with a
GE Jenbacher high efficiency engine.
AP&T is the applicant for this grant and will provide cash and in -kind match for
equipment and materials, labor and construction costs for the new buildings, consultant
costs, computer and data management costs, travel expenses, installation costs, and land
for the proposed CHP demonstration project. AP&T will also obtain funding through
grants and loans as part of this commitment for matching funds. Exact match amounts are
listed in the grant budget portion of the application.
AP&T is an employee -owned utility based in Port Townsend, Washington, serving
13,000 customers in 41 locations in Alaska. Recognized as one of the most progressive
utilities in Alaska, the keys to AP&T's continued success lay primarily in its willingness
to develop long term reliable energy and communication solutions while capitalizing on
the innovation and technical expertise of its skilled and dedicated employees. AP&T is
confident that this project will help advance AEA's renewable energy goals, as well as
the State of Alaska's goal of achieving 50% renewable energy by 2025. This project will
position both Alaska and America as leaders in the adoption of breakthrough cleantech
developments in biomass energy production.
I will serve as the main point of contact for this grant application. I can be contacted at
