Re: Support for Ormat's AEA. Renewable Energy Fund, Round .1.11, Application for
Mount Spurr Geothermal Exploration
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
The mission of the Alaska Center for Appropriate Technology (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization) is to promote sustainable economic development. ACAT recognizes the
tremendous potential for renewable energy systems to contribute to local/regional energy
security while providing tremendous opportunity for economic development and "green" jobs.
As such, ACAT wishes to support Onnat's application for a $2 million grant from the
Alaska Renewable Energy Fund to pursue geothermal exploration at Mt. Spurr. This resource
needs to be thoroughly studied to assess its technical and economic feasibility, and Ormat has the
resources and track record to do just that.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Mark MastelIer
