RESOLUTION 09-42
A RESOLUTION OF THE NORTHWEST
ARCTIC BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AUTHORIZING
THE APPLICATION OF ALASKA ENERGY
AUTHORITY GRANTS AND FOR RELATED
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Northwest Arctic Borough is the governing body
representing eleven communities within its boundaries, and
WHEREAS, Northwest Arctic Borough provides services to
residents in the with regards to Energy, and
WHEREAS, the Northwest Arctic Borough has given Energy
programs and services its highest priority for the creation and
sustainability of such programs and services, and
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska — Alaska Energy Authority (AEA)
has announced a third round funding for Energy projects within the State
of Alaska, and
WHEREAS, the Energy Coordinator of the Northwest Arctic
Borough has proposed a project "NWAB School Alternate Energy Solar
Awareness Project" that will install solar panels within the Kotzebue
School to off -set the cost of electricity at that school simultaneously
teaching the students about the project and alternative energy, and
WHEREAS, the Northwest Arctic Borough strongly supports
energy projects for the residents of the borough and will provide such
resources as necessary to support alternative energy projects that are
proposed.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE NORTHWEST
ARCTIC BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AUTHORIZES THE APPLICATION
OF AEA GRANT FUNDS, AUTHORIZES THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
DOCUMENTS THAT RELATE TO THE APPLICATION AND
AUTHORIZES THE MAYOR TO APPLY RESOURCES AS
REASONABLE TO APPLY FOR SUCH FUNDING.
