Dear Chairman Kelsey,
Ocean Beauty Seafoods LLC is adding seafood processing capacity in 2009. The
availability of reliable power in Cordova has allowed us to sustain and grow our
operations in the community. Recent decreases in base rates have added welcome relief
to high energy costs, but the rising cost of diesel fuel has more than offset these
decreases.
As you consider the Orca Diesel Efficiency Upgrade heat recovery unit and the
Humpback Creek construction requests, we encourage you to fund both of these projects.
The application of excess oil revenues to long term, sustainable energy projects that
reduce and eliminate the use of diesel fuel are excellent investments. These two projects
are currently under construction and will have and immediate impact on the economic
picture in Cordova.
Ocean Beauty is one of the largest employers in Cordova, and stabilizing the energy cost
in Cordova grows the economy of the community and of the State.
Thank you for considering these projects and the immediate, positive impacts they will
have during this difficult economic environment.
Sincerely,
P as
