Program Proposal
Dear Review Panel:
The Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC) respectfully submits the enclosed
application for grant funds available through the Renewable Energy Fund Grant Program.
AVEC has worked together with NANA Pacific to develop a proposal for a resource
assessment/feasibility analysis/conceptual design project of geothermal sites on the
Seward Peninsula region. The goal of the program is to ascertain the feasibility of
geothermal power generation for regional communities and develop conceptual design
documents/reports for geothermal generation on the Seward Peninsula. This project has
considerable support from villages and corporations in the region.
AVEC is seeking $4,301,950 from AEA under this proposal. Matches would be provided
from AVEC ($50,000), NANA ($80,000), and Kawerak ($15,000).
Please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Petrie of my staff if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Meera Kohler
